Wild Eyes Contact Lenses – But Just How Wild Do You Go?

Wild eyes contact lenses have been gaining popularity on the party scene, dance scene and on holiday. Not surprising really if you consider how cheap it is to totally change your appearance and how quickly you can out them in or take them out!

If you do a search online you’ll turn up many sites selling wild eye lenses or party lenses. Prices range from $27.99 to $80.00 depending on what you are looking for exactly. As with anything, the wilder and harder to create designs do end up costing you more.

You’ll have to view this as throw away money as well. With the huge swell recently to soft, permeable lenses that can pass oxygen through to the eye, your novelty lenses will have a shelf life, unlikely to go beyond 90 days at the most with the most common life cycle lasting 30 days.

The selection you have though is staggering. From swirly eyes in different colors, through all white zombie eyes and all black vampire eyes, to werewolf, fox and snake eyes – the choice is only really limited by your imagination. By now – most designs will be available.

One thing does puzzle me though – well actually, two things.

Firstly – for those who have never worm glasses or contact lenses before – isn’t this a rather radical and far out way of altering your appearance? It’s hard enough for those of us who wear contacts every day to put them in and take them out but for those are new – this would be a big step to take.

Secondly – they do a set of novelty contact lenses that give you snake eyes. These have a centre that is a solid, slit like look upright and vertical. Obviously, clear where yu need to look through. But – and here’s the puzzle, how do they get the vertical slit design on the lens to stay vertical. I always thought the basis of contact lenses mounting to the eye was there ability to move and self lubricate as the eye blinks.

Surely this would cause these novelty ones to move around? Not a problem for some designs – like the swirls or the all one colors – but those with a distinct design and pattern – wouldn’t they just look odd, lopsided and as though your face was melting?

Someone actually told me that what the manufacturer does is build it with a very small weight bias to the ‘bottom’ edge of the lens. As you place it on your eye and blink it into place, it slowly turns and settles in the right position, the minuscule amount of weight settling it to the right position.
