Recently, Hollywood land has uneasy comments and frightened exclaims making the rounds around its corners. The reason? Well, to all those movie-buffs for whom each new release is a must-see, the film “Blindness” came about as an uncanny and eerie experience that is as befuddling as it is bizarre. The movie shows a world where everyone goes blind. No one is left with the gift of sight; things turn into a swirl of white and beyond the empty film of nothingness, they see nothing.
If you really want to know what a blind man’s world is like, close your eyes for just a while and try to walk around. It will be difficult, will it not? You would stumble, unsure of how many steps to take and in which direction. You might walk into a wall, or tumble over the sofa, and fall into serious injuries as well.
So you see, our eyes are the windows through which we see the world, and it is very necessary to keep this window clean and wide open. It is important that we take a good care of our eyes, and for that, you need certain significant and essential measures.
o If you cannot see things properly around you or far away from you, it means that your eyes are in trouble. Even if you start squinting when you watch television or read the newspapers, it is high time that you paid your optometric a visit. Your vision might be impaired for two main reasons. Either you are suffering from eye disease of some kind, or you have been too negligent towards your eyes so that you sat in front of the T.V. to close, or worked in your computer with your eyes just an inch away from its glaring screen and with your nose fogging up the surface. In both the cases, it is time for you to get off your lazy back, and roll all the way to an eye specialist’s office.
o Sometimes, our genes are responsible for this problem of course. If you cannot blame it on yourself, make your lineage the scapegoat. Nutrition deficiencies and old age can also lead up to tired eyes and faulty vision. Whatever the reason, a pair of glasses or contact lens is a must, if you do not want to walk headlong into the lamp post in the streets. Do not start worrying about looks, for it is better to look a dork than foolish with feet up in the air every time you stumble and fall on the road.
o Then, push the sofa to the very back of the room, and farthest away from the T.V., so that this way, your eyes stay away from the harmful rays that emanate from the electronic gadgets. Try out some home based easy remedies to take care of your tired, puffy eyes.
o Learn to keep your eyes closed for some time in a day to give them the required rest. Try putting on some cucumber slices to keep them relieved from the heat, especially when you are soaking up in a warm bath.
o Dip cotton balls in a bowl of ice water, squeeze them, and place them on your eyes to keep them cool. Leave them untouched for about 20 minutes.
o Finally, if your eyes are bloated up and too dark so that you look like a Panda with patchy black eyes, it is time to take the warm teabags by their strings and place them on your eyes for about 15 minutes. You can even use potato slices instead for 20 minutes for the same effect.
Learn to keep your eyes healthy. They are very sensitive, and it is your responsibility to take care of what you cannot do without. Starting from rinsing off the eye make-up before bed time to keeping them fresh and relaxed, you have to do it all! After all, you believe what you see. But you need to see first so as to believe, isn’t it?
