Have you ever been busy at work or out grocery shopping and the screw in your eyeglasses fallen out? I have and its a pain to try and find the screw. Read this article to find out how a toothpick can help you in this situation. 🙂 Also find tips to prevent this problem in the first place.
Instructions
things you’ll need:
Toothpick
Tape
Broken glasses
clear fingernail polish (optional)
1 First of all, stand up because that tiny screw has bounced way under the couch or is in the far corner under your desk. You’ll never find it because its cuddled up next to that missing sock from the dryer. 🙂
Go find a wooden or plastic toothpick now please. Its okay I’ll twiddle my thumbs while I wait for you to come back.
2 Okay now insert the toothpick into the recently abandoned screw hole. Push on it till its tightly wedged into your glasses.
3 Now snap the toothpick off by either using your fingertips to break it off (which I’ve found leaves the remaining toothpick sticking out jagged).
Or you can use a small pair of scissors to cut it off (scissors produce a more clean cut).
4 Now using clear tape secure the toothpick in place until you can get to the optometrist or are able to buy a eyeglass repair kit.
Tips & Warnings
To Prevent loose screws from falling out in the first place, keep an eyeglass repair kit around the home and the office. You never know when you’ll need it.
When you first receive a new pair of glasses, make sure the screws are tight than coat all the screws with a generous coating of clear fingernail polish.
BE CAREFUL WHEN PUSHING THE TOOTHPICK INTO YOUR GLASSES!! It’s bad enough to have lost the screw, you wouldn’t want to crack your frames also.
