If your prescription for vision correction has changed or you want to change the style of the glasses you wear, you will need to switch eyeglasses. You can change the prescription without changing the glasses, but you should still go to an eye doctor to make sure you are given the correct prescription. While at the doctor you can look through a variety of different styles and colors of eyeglasses and pick out the ones that you like the best and can afford to buy.
Instructions
things you’ll need:
Eye doctor
Eyeglass prescription
1 Make an appointment with an eye doctor in your area. If you have vision insurance, you will want to check with the doctor first to make sure your insurance will cover partial or full costs at the specific clinic you are thinking of going to.
2 Get your vision and your eye health tested during an appointment with your eye doctor. Receive an updated lens prescription from your eye doctor, which is the prescription you will use when you switch eyeglasses.
3 Switch your eyeglasses by choosing a new frame from the selection at the clinic. The eye doctor will probably need to order your lenses for the eyeglasses and put them in the frames for you. Your glasses should be ready in about a week, and the clinic will contact you to pay for them and pick them up.
Tips & Warnings
If you do not go to an eye doctor to find your correct prescription, there is a risk that you will choose an incorrect prescription strength for your eyeglasses, and this could strain your eyes and make your vision worse.
