The measurement for eyeglass lenses largely depends on the size and shape of the frame. When trying to decide on an eyeglass frame, you should keep in mind the style of other things you wear, such as your clothes and jewelry. Matching frames to your overall style and look will help ensure you’ll be happy with them in all situations. Once you choose a frame, the process of measuring the lenses can begin.
Instructions
1 Measure the front width of the eyeglass frames. Looking at the glasses straight on with the temples, or part that extends over the ears, folded back, the width is the measurement from one far side to the other.
2 Measure the lens width and height. These measurements are taken by measuring from the inside edge of the rim. Be careful not to include the rim itself in these measurements.
3 Measure the bridge width. The bridge is the space between the lenses and is primarily used to support the weight of the frames and lenses. All these measurements together will help determine the measurement for the eyeglass lenses, which are cut to fit the size of the frame.
