Eyeglasses are one of those things which once the ear piece breaks or the frames go out of style, they just seem like worthless junk. Well, not anymore. You can now transform old glasses into adorable picture frames that make great gifts or decorations for your home. So, pull out those old, funky frames or start searching second hand stores for these simple treasures.
Instructions
things you’ll need:
Mini screwdriver
Construction paper
Pencil
Scissors
Clear tape
Fishing line
1 Use a mini screwdriver to carefully remove the ear pieces of your choses frames. Do not attempt to break the ear pieces off, as you need the holes intact for hanging your picture frame. Next, carefully pop the lenses out of the glasses.
2 Place a lens on a piece of construction paper and trace around the edges. Construction paper works best, as it is about the same thickness as a photo. Cut out your template and make sure that it fits into your glasses. You can trim the templates as needed.
3 Align the template on top of a photo, centering so that the subject fits into the shape of the lens. Flip the template over and repeat with the second photo. Cut out your photos and then carefully place them into your glasses. Put a small piece of clear tape on the back to hold them in place.
4 Attach a piece of fishing line to the glasses, threading it through the holes where the ear pieces were attached. Hang your new picture frame and enjoy.
Tips & Warnings
If your child wears glasses, making picture frames from their old glasses can be a great way to recycle the small frames and watch your child grow.
Consider matching your frames to your family activities. For example, sunglasses make great frames for summer activities, use snorkeling goggles for beach photos or old ski goggles for fun in the snow.
