How to Fix Eyeglass Frames That Slip

If you find yourself tugging your eyeglasses up multiple times throughout the day, this may be the result of an ill-fitting frame. Glasses are not made to be a one-size-fits-all product. Fortunately, with a couple quick fixes, you should be able to stop your eyeglasses from slipping and continue wearing them comfortably.

1. Examine the nose pads when your glasses are both on and off your face. Ideally, nose pads should sit flat on each side of your nose without pinching. To adjust a nose pad, place one side of your pliers on the wire area immediately behind one nose pad and the other side on the front face of the nose pad. Slowly pull the nose pad inward toward the opposite nose pad. Put on the frame to check that both nose pads rest completely flat on your nose.

2 If you notice that the nose pads start to leave reddish marks on your nose after long periods of wear, this means you have adjusted the pads too tightly. While you want to prevent your glasses from slipping, you do not have to do so at the expense of comfort.

3 Try on your glasses once again. After a few hours, if you notice that slipping continues to occur, this may be because the temple arms are too loose behind one or both ears. Use your pliers to slowly bend each arm downward slightly. Once again, you should not feel pain or pressure on your face when you are wearing your glasses. If you find one or both temple arms pressing down too hard on your ears, you have bent them too far.

Tips & Warnings
•Keep in mind that temple arms and the wires supporting each nose pad are all delicate parts. Therefore, you do not want to apply too much force with your pliers, as each can easily be broken if not handled gently.
