Eyeglass lenses fog up when hot air or steam comes in contact with them. The steam can come from simply moving from outdoors to indoors or opening an oven door. If the glasses lenses are close to the temperature of the warm air, less fog forms. Although U.S. Patent 5319397 offers a high-tech electrical approach to removing fog, easier methods exist. Simply warming the lenses and preparing for the warm air can slow or stop fogging from occurring.
Instructions
1 Wipe the lenses with a clean eyeglasses cloth or very soft towel. Do not use rough fabrics, because the fibers can scratch the lenses.
2 Hold the glasses in your hand for 20 seconds to warm up the lenses. Do not squeeze tightly or press your palms into the lenses. Wipe the lenses off with a cloth to remove any fingerprints.
3 Open the door to the hot area, such a stove or door. Allow some of the heat to escape for 15 seconds. Look away from the steam, and then turn your head toward the area. Turn your head toward cool air if the eyeglass lenses start to fog up.
