Glowing Contact Lenses

In the last few decades, contact lenses have come a long way in terms of comfort, vision, and even style. For a long time contacts, were only for vision correction, but in the last few years they have really become more of a fashion statement. Many people use colored contacts to change their eye color but there are really a lot a different styles of contacts out there.

Most people already know about colored contacts, but have you ever heard of glow in the dark contacts? These are contacts that glow under a uv light. They are really awesome at night and look great when you go to parties or clubs. Many even wear glowing contacts with their costumes to shock people. Color contacts as well as glow in the dark contacts have often been used in movies even if you didn’t notice them. Glowing eyes just really have a tendency to freak people out.

Here are some questions you may be wondering:

-How much do glow in the dark contact lenses cost?
obviously the different brands will vary in price and quality, but you do not want to buy the cheapest contacts on the market. These are going to be sitting inside your eyes! So be on the safe side and go with a brand that is well known. Most people don’t know that poor quality contacts can lead to abrasions on your corneas or even lead to blindness in severe cases. So be careful when making your selection. Honestly you should be paying about $25-$35 for a pair of quality contacts. And I wouldn’t recommend buying them from a novelty shop. It may seem great because the shop is near your house and you won’t have to wait for shipping, but you can save some serious money by shopping for contacts online. There are many more companies online selling contacts than in your local area, so you are bound to find a better deal among all the competition.

-Do glowing contacts actually glow “in the dark”?
As I mentioned before, these special contacts glow under a uv light. That means that in pitch darkness they will not glow, but they will glow in clubs o parties where there is a limited amount of light. So if you have purchased some and they don’t glow in your closet, have no fear. They aren’t broken, they only glow under uv light.

-How do I care for glowing contacts?
Glowing contacts should be treated just like regular contacts. They must be cleaned regularly between uses, and left in a moisturizing solution. Again, do not buy a cheap solution unless you want your eyes to burn. If you do not clean them regularly contacts can get calcium build up and the lenses and cause irritation as well as health problems such as cataracts.
