Colored Contact Lenses – Reinvent Yourself and Have Fun

If you are thinking of getting colored contact lenses in the near future, then you might need some added information to help you choose the ones that will best fit. The first thing that you need to realize is that the final result will largely depend on the natural color of your eyes. That is of course assuming that you want the effect to be less “in your face” and more subtle. If you opt for a more drastic change, say for a party, then “Halloween”or opaque contacts could be the go. There are basically four types of colored lenses.

Opaque colored lenses.- They completely change the color of your eyes and are particularly popular with people that have dark eyes.
Translucent colored lenses.- These lenses will not give you that radical change but rather enhance the natural color of your eyes. They are mainly popular with people that have light colored eyes.
Fantasy colored lenses. – These are mainly used for special occasions like “Halloween” or as special effects. They are available in a wide array of colors and designs. Designs like “Cats Eyes”, “Zombie” or “Alien” are now available for you to purchase.
Filtering lenses. – These are relatively new and are mainly used by sports people like tennis players and golfers as they tend allow you to focus on certain colors and block the rest. As an example, a baseball player can focus better on the ball as the lenses tend to block the colors coming from the crowd but emphasizes the color of the ball.

Choosing the right color for you

If you have dark eyes, then your choices are restricted as if you wanted to lighten your eyes, your natural eye color will always tend to come through the lenses. Colors like deep blues or deep greens will however work quite well and may even give your eyes that “shinning effect”. People with brown eyes in years gone by did not have a wide variety of colors to choose from either.

However, with the technology constantly improving, the choice has widened. If you have brown eyes, try to stay away from translucent colored contacts as they are mostly geared towards enhancing your natural color but only if you have light colored eyes.

Opaque lenses should work better for you but be ready as the change that they make to your eyes could be something very radical. For those that posses light colored eyes, the choice is instantly much wider. You should start by trying lenses that are of the same color as your eyes but just a shade deeper. As an example, start with a deep green contact if you have light green eyes.

These types of changes do not stand out and will ultimately give you a more natural look.

Change the color of your eyes

People you work with and your immediate circle of friends would surely know the color of your eyes and if you get to work one day with a totally different eye color, they are bound to notice the drastic change. They will probably get used to the change eventually but your secret will be out.

The trick to changing the color of your eyes, is to do it in a gradual manner. Try to stay away from being too eccentric. Maintain a classical look and leave the really fancy contacts for fun evenings or special occasions. If you intend to go radical very quickly, please be aware that you will receive feedback whether you like it or not.
