Are Contact Lenses Right for Everyone

Extensive buying of contact lenses is heating up the overall commercial activity and more so if we consider buying lenses online. But just because the contact lenses are bought and sold at such a fiery pace doesn’t indicate that the contact lens technology is an all-inclusive technology. Nothing in the world is perfect and contact lenses are no exception to this universal rule. So if we say that contacts are products meant for anybody and everybody, we would be seriously flawed. The contact lenses, although a wiser choice over eyeglasses, have a few usage drawbacks.

Not Meant for Weak and Sensitive Eyes

There are at least two out of every twenty people whose eyes are extra sensitive to contact lenses and solutions. Even though there is a choice of much healthy soft lenses, the eyes maybe too weak to take their stress and strain. There are many who have naturally weak eyes, which cannot take the burden of wearing the soft contact lenses through out the day. So buying soft contacts is out of the question for these sort of unfortunates, let alone the hard lenses.

Also some pair of eyes is highly susceptible to infections that may be contracted from the contact lenses. Some eyes are so vulnerable that even the disposable lenses don’t suit them and lead to corneal infections

Not for those on a Budget

Buying contacts is not a one-time investment. The contact lenses are made up of a protein that decays with every use. At the max, a pair of contacts can serve you for an year or so. After that you must purchase a new set of lenses. Therefore this constant buying can turn out to be a costly affair and is not meant for people who cannot afford it in the long run. To get a medical prescription for the lenses might be covered by your health insurance but the insurance company won’t be paying for the lenses you buy on that prescription.

Along with lenses comes the responsibility of maintaining them. If not kept under proper care the lenses might get infected and there is no option but to chuck them away. There is an additional cost that is involved in buying the contact solution and other care equipment for the lenses.

Although buying online may bring you the benefits of cheap contacts, the shipping and handling charges might be killing. Also even if you decide to purchase discounted contacts, compromising on quality can cost you dearly. So, contact lenses can be a very expensive investment and is not meant for the low-income ridden strata. Technology comes at a cost and due to certain inevitable restrictions; contact lens technology is not entirely unlimited.
