If you’ve done some little research about contact lenses, you should know by now that there are three main types of colored contacts that can be purchased online or offline: enhancement tints (a.k.a. single layer lenses) opaque color tints (a.k.a. dual-layer lenses) and last but certainly not the least, visibility tints.
Most dealers for colored contacts can sell the contact lenses in a non-prescription or a prescription variety. However you need to know that it’s very important that you get an optometrist’s recommendation before you get one for your own eyes’ safety.
A single layer contacts will change the color of your eyes. It is a solid yet see-through tint that is a bit darker than a visibility tint. This works if the color of your eyes is light. This will make the color of your eyes a bit more intense.
Dual layer colored contacts are made of opaque tints and are usually darker. This will change your eye color completely. If you have a dark eye color, this will work best for you because its layers have solid colors.
Dual layer colored contact lenses and the single layer ones can be purchased online. They come in many different colors such as violet, jade green, hazel, aqua, amethyst, gray, crystal blue and other.
No matter how “colored” these contacts are, their center is still clear. The reason? You would not be able to see a thing if everything including the center of lens is colored.
If you’re planning to buy one or if you already have a set, it’s important that you disinfect them on a regular basis using the recommended cleaning solution by your optometrist. And for goodness sake, please do not even think about sharing your contact lenses to other people.
