If you wear eyeglasses, it is important to clean not only the lenses, but the frames as well. Many people overlook the frames while cleaning eyeglasses. Plastic frames get dirty from sweat, oils from your skin and everyday dirt. Dirt can destroy the finish on the plastic frame, so clean the frames of your eyeglasses with sudsy soap every time you clean the lenses.
Instructions
Things You’ll Need:
Water
Non-lotion hand or dish soap
All-cotton towel
Cotton swab
Isopropyl alcohol
1 Run the frames under lukewarm water. It is fine to get the lenses wet as well.
2 Wet your hands with water. Put a few drops of non-lotion hand or dish soap into your hands. Rub your hands together to form suds.
3 Wipe down the plastic frames with your lathered fingers. Make sure to clean along the frames where they meet the lenses.
4 Rinse the soap from the eyeglasses with lukewarm water. Dry the frames with a clean towel made of 100 percent cotton.
5 Use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to remove build up such as hairspray and oil from the plastic frames. Dry the frames with the cotton towel after using the alcohol. It is advisable that alcohol be used only periodically for cleaning plastic frames, as it can make the plastic brittle through prolonged use.
