How to Reinsert Eyeglass Lenses

Eyeglass lenses can come out of frames rather easily. Everyday use, simply taking the frames on and off, loosens the screws that hold the lenses in place. Lenses can also pop out from impact. Reinserting lenses back into eyeglasses requires a few simple steps.

Instructions
things you’ll need:
Small screwdriver
Bowl of warm water

1 Determine the method used to hold your lenses into your frame. If the frame is metal and held together by screws where the lenses fit into the frame, you will retighten the screws after you place the lens inside the rim of the frame.

2 Double-check to make sure you are inserting the lenses into the correct sides; lenses can look very similar. If you are unsure, hold both lenses in front of your eyes and check the vision.

3 Insert the lens from the back side of the frame, toward the nosepiece. After you feel the lens click into place, form the rest of the frame around the lens and hold the edges shut while you tighten the screw.

4 Heat a plastic frame in a bowl of warm (not hot) water for a few moments to soften the plastic before trying to insert the lens. The frame will not get soft, but it will be more pliable.

5 Insert the lenses in the same method as a metal frame, from the back side and toward the nose. Carefully push the outer edge of the lens into the opposite side of the frame after you have inserted the nose side. You should feel the lens snap or click into place.

Tips & Warnings
Put a little dab of clear nail polish on your screws after you replace your lenses, being careful not to get any on your frame or lenses. This will help keep the screws from coming loose so often.
