Contact lenses are a fantastic way to improve your vision without having to wear glasses. However, many people with perfectly good vision are finding that they can use contacts to give their eyes a new, intriguing look – through the use of colored contacts.
Colored contact lenses are manufactured in just the same way as regular contacts, except that the material isn’t given any light-bending properties, so they won’t alter your vision in any way. On top of this, the manufacturer can put all sorts of different colors, to alter the way people’s eyes look.
There are a couple of types of colored contacts available. The first are known as ‘opaque’ lenses. These are ones which have a strongly-colored ring around the outside. When placed on the eye, they completely obscure the natural color, replacing it with a different one.
The second type are called ‘enhancement’ lenses. These have very subtle coloring, and are used, as the name suggests, to enhance the natural color of the eye. For example, someone with naturally blue eyes might use enhancement lenses to make the blue seem more vivid and striking.
Because of the nature of these lenses, no prescription is needed to buy or wear them. However, for people who wear contact lenses normally, a similar range of prescription lenses are available. These do the same thing as these non-prescription lenses, but they also correct the wearer’s vision.
Colored contact lenses are a fantastic way to enhance your look, or even for use as part of a costume. Thanks to their low cost and high quality, they are a realistic option for the vast majority of people.
