Of all our sense organs, eyes are the most important for us. So it becomes vital to take good care of our eyes. Varying kind of eye protection is needed at different times – at a beach, on a roadway etc. Sub-burned corneas or even the ones which are subject to constant scratching can injure the eyes.
The most widely available eye protection forms are the sunglasses. People like to sport a shade all the time. A good quality sunglass may be a bit expensive but will do very well to protect your eyes and give you the UVA, UVB and UVC protection. When the cornea gets sun-burned, called photokeratitis, you may experience blindness for a short span of time, after which things get normal. If your eyes are exposed a lot to the UV rays, you may get cataract as well. So ensure that you always sport the protective sunglasses so that you are saved from all these conditions.
Another common protection forms are the goggles. Besides blocking the harmful elements of the sun, they also keep your eyes safe from the outer elements. Goggles are the ultimate protective forms whether you are performing an experiment at school or are holidaying at a beach. There are various varieties of goggles, and so far as they fully cover up your face, they are very safe for your eyes.
Most of the injuries that occur during sports happen somewhere near the eyeball. This is the main reason why a lot of athletes wear some kind of a protection while practicing or even while playing in the actual game. While the full-face masks are preferred by the hockey players, the others like wrestlers and volleyball players wear polycarbonate lenses. They are very safe and in the past many years, they have kept many injuries at bay. Based on what kind of sport you play, there are different kinds of protection for you to choose from.
The eyewear frames are also available in a lot of varieties, as they may come in plastic or metal. They also differ in shape. While some are straight, others have an angle. The rims too can be either narrow or broad. The rims may also be full-rimmed or semi-rimmed. Even rimless eyewear has become a fashion nowadays.
While shopping for your eyewear, keep the following things in mind:
o Have a look at the material of the lenses and the frame. Keep in mind that the eyewear will be heavy if made of metals and glass, and would be lighter if made of fiber and plastic. See what looks good on you and if you would be comfortable with a heavy eyewear.
o Consider the color and the shape of the frames as well. A rectangular frame would go well for a round face, and round frames would do well if your face is a little square-shaped.
Normally, frames make the face look thin and long. Before buying an eyewear, try it out and ensure that it fits you well. Ask the shopkeeper for another pair if you are uncomfortable in the one given to you.
