More and more people wear contact lenses today. They are much appreciated because the technology helps to render them more comfortable without any big annoyances.
Contact lenses instead of glasses, why?
The main reason is for esthetic reasons and simplicity. Personally, I have glasses but I can understand why people prefer contact lenses. For practical reasons like sport when you have no possibility to wear glasses. There is also few people who wear those types of lenses for a decorative reason; they like changing the shape, the color and so on. Can I say this is not a serious reason? Who cares?
Then come, the medical reasons for any problems of the cornea. Quickly, contact lenses are used like a bandage to protect and to deliver small amount of medicament to the eye.
Maybe you don’t know it but you have to consult your doctor if you want to wear contact lenses, precisely an ophthalmologist. You have many options of lenses and your doctor will tell you what to use from a various choice of Plexiglas, silicon hydrogel or any new plastic polymers or gas permeable contact lenses. You have to find the contact lenses that fit best your needs from the material as we have just seen together but you have to decide when you’re going to wear them (sporadically or continuously) and the form of the lenses depending on your correction. It’s really complex and a professional advice is always best.
If you’re like me and want easy things: select daily contact lens. You do not have to clean them everyday, you avoid any possible problem of infections and you lower your cost because you do not have to pay for all the arsenal storage and cleaning stuffs. Honestly, that’s my choice and the choice of many. If you opt for long term contact lens you have to be very rigorous and serious about sterility and make sure you have no allergies.
In both case, daily or long term, quality is your motto. Do not take the risk of bad quality for your eyes and the same for all the stuffs that come around. Always clean with professional products. Get a prescription to you doctor and then shop online or from a store with all the details and specifications you need. Avoid shortcuts.
